Hi Chris. Yes, both the late Julio Cortazar from Argentina and the Nobel laureate Jose Saramago from Portugal are giants in the Spanish/Portuguese literature world. But the funny feeling I have is that they are not very known in the AngloSaxon world. I can see that everyone knows maybe Gabriel Garcia Marquez but little beyond that, but hey... I didn´t know who Captain Cook was! Saramago it´s amazing, he is 85, he openly declares is a Communist ideologically and last week he wrote the best article I have seen for a while criticising the Vatican as an unelected power in the dark. Have you seen the film Blindness? It´s based in one of his books.
Very interesting, my friend. No, I've not heard of either of them, nor have I seen the film 'Blindness'. I'll try to find out more about them, though...

Two authors you have great respect for, I'm guessing?
