Yes, I always have thought that Belgium, in linguistic terms, doesn´t exist - the north (Flandria) could perfectly be a Dutch province and the south (Wallonia)might be a French department. I know the two communities have, de facto, separated lives and Brussels is their only common ground but even this is controversial as in theory the city has a bilingual status but in practice is a French speaking spot inside the Flemish region. And then you have the German-speaking minority. Interesting, as you can see.
